Website Tip 2 – Forget Flash, Stick with an HTML or CMS Site

website tipThis is our second tip for all of you who have a website and/or are looking to build one for their business or personal use.

Many people these days get obsessed with looks and animations on a website. Don’t get us wrong – Presentation is VITAL. However, you should not sacrifice functionality to your website, just because you want to make it look HOT and COOL (no pun intended). Unless you are a nightclub (even then), YOU should not USE FLASH or any other form of animation for your site. Instead, use Videos if you like moving pictures. :)

Here are just a few vital reasons why you should do a HTML or CMS (Content Management Site) site:

  • Your Content is King. Give Google and other search engines the ability to index your pages and drive FREE traffic to your website.
  • HTML and CMS abide by Industry standards which makes accessibility by ALL computers, browsers, etc. a breeze. With Flash for example, someone might miss out on your presentation or product just because they don’t have the Flash plugin or the correct version installed.
  • Accessible via Mobile Browsers. Now these days, when people are on the go, mobile accessibility is vital. Someone might want to check out your Dinner Menu over the phone, but they won’t be able to if you have Flash.
  • Speed and Loading Time. Consumers want instant gratification. Don’t make them wait to see what’s going to happen. Present the product as fast as you can.

So, this is our website tip for this week. Hope it helps.

In regards to HTML and CMS, we do recommend starting a CMS site, which is cost-effective, and gives you the ability to make changes to the content in real-time without programming knowledge.
